Statistics AS at Ashmole Academy

Course description

1 (JAN): Statistical analysis of data, probability distributions (Binomial and Normal) and Correlation and regression, 2 (JUNE): Further probability distribution (Poisson and rectangular), Hypothesis testing. Chi squared contingency tables, 3 (JUNE): Further probability (Baye’s Theorem). Approximations to probability distributions. Further hypothesis testing.

B in Maths at GCSE, C Eng Lang

Future opportunities

You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Statistics, which could lead onto higher education in areas of Statistics, related areas such as Engineering, Economics, Physics or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to Statistics such as an Accountant, Engineer, Financial Adviser or Teacher. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for, especially in the economic and financial sectors.
