Travel and Tourism (OCR National) at George Salter Academy

Course description

This course is excellent for students who want to find out what the Travel and Tourism industry entails and the range of jobs available in Travel and Tourism. The department strongly believes that students should gain first-hand experience of the topics studied and understand the various aspects of the industry. Therefore students are taken on various trips and residentials.

Students will develop their research and communication skills, gaining many customer service practical skills that are very useful in many different contexts.

Progression routes from this course

Those studying in preparation for employment in the Travel and Tourism sector particularly for junior practitioner positions or for jobs where they will be supporting the operational elements of Travel and Tourism organisations. This qualification is also suitable for those wishing to gain A-level 2 qualification to support further study in higher education for level 3 courses.

Assessment

The course is all coursework so assessment is continuous throughout the year.

Entry requirements

Grade C at GCSE English is desirable.
