Certificate in Sport in Year 12 - Students cover the following Core Units:

- Principles of anatomy and Physiology in sport

- The physiology of fitness

- Assessing risk in sport

Plus one optional unit:

- Fitness testing for sport and exercise

A2

Subsidiary Diploma in Sport in Year 13 - Students cover the following Core Units (all taken in Year 12):

- Principles of anatomy and Physiology in sport

- The physiology of fitness

- Assessing risk in sport

- Fitness testing for sport and exercise

Plus three optional units:

- Fitness testing and programming

- Practical team sports

- Leadership in sport

Students must meet coursework deadlines throughout the course to maintain progress. Students will be given opportunity to gain additional, relevant qualifications. As part of the course there will also be the opportunity of achieving additional qualifications during the two years:

• Governing Body Awards in coaching and officiating

• First Aid

• Fitness Instructing

Entry requirements

Yr12: Grade C in GCSE PE

Yr13: Pass grade in all Year 12 units
