Business A-Level at King's Oak Academy

Course description

Learn what it means to run your own business. Set one up from scratch. Manage people, resources and accounts. React, predict and make use of a dynamic and changing business environment.

Unit 1: Planning and financing a business. Understanding how to be an entrepreneur, the skills they need and how to go about setting up a business. 
Unit 2: Managing a business. Beginning to look at how to manage the different functions of business – sales, marketing, operations, finance and people. 
Unit 3: Strategies for success. Exploring how bigger businesses develop different strategies and become successful global companies. 
Unit 4: The business environment and managing change.Investigating the wider external and global environment businesses work within; leadership and managing organisational change.

Entry requirements

Grade C in English and Maths. Also either GCSE Business Studies grade B or Distinction at Level 2 BTEC Business.

Progression

Many students go on to study BSc/BA Hons degrees in business related subjects.

Careers

Accountants; marketing or recruitment specialists; financial advisors; project managers or business management positions in a variety of areas and industries.
