Music Technology A Level at Strode's College
This is a highly practical course in which you learn how to use the College’s recording studio and Logic music software for mixing, sequencing, arranging and composing, culminating in the production of a CD. You also study different styles of pop, rock and jazz. There is no performing assessment in Music Technology but you must be a good musician to take this course.
This is an ideal course to record and mix a song of your choice using studio and Logic. Your role is that of engineer/producer and you get other musicians to play for you. Arrange a given song in a particular style and learn how to write for different instruments.
General entry requirements for Level 3 Pathway. Plus an interest in recording, computer sequencing and composition. You should be able to perform on at least one instrument and have keyboard skills.
Externally assessed coursework, including a logbook worth 60% and one exam each year. Career progression: Many students progress on to degrees in Music Technology including Sound Design, Audio Recording, Creative Music Technology and Acoustic Engineering. These in turn lead to a variety of careers including studio work, live sound, sound for film, TV and media.
Street Dance/choreography, Battle of the Bands, Speech and Drama, College Play, Musical Theatre
Many students progress on to degrees in Music Technology including Sound Design, Audio Recording, Creative Music Technology and Acoustic Engineering. These, in turn, lead to a variety of careers, including studio work, live sound, sound for film, TV and media.
