Applied Science at St Joseph's Catholic High School

Course description

The BTEC National Certificate in Applied Science (Forensic Science) consists of six
core units:
 Fundamentals of Science
 Working in the Science Industry
 Scientific Investigation
 Scientific Practical Techniques
 Perceptions of Science
 Application of numbers for Science Technicians
In addition to this pupils complete a range of specialist units that will be chosen to
suit the group. There is a wide range and include a choice of; Criminology, Forensic
Evidence, Forensic Photography and Forensic Psychology.
The BTEC course places a high importance on a practical approach to work. St.
Joseph’s is well placed to deliver this as the town has many large industrial
companies, giving us opportunities to learn and visit industry.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade C required in Science as part of 5 A* - C grades
