Drama & Theatre Studies A-Level at Lancaster Girls' Grammar School

Course description

This course will enable you to both extend your knowledge and understanding of theatre in context through the exploration of plays from different periods, theatre practitioners and styles of performance.

Course content

Your AS year will consist of the following:

UNIT 1: Exploration of Drama & Theatre (Practical work & written coursework - internally assessed.)

UNIT 2: Theatre text in Context (Performance of a monologue or duologue and a group scripted piece - externally assessed.)

Your A2 year will continue the good practices that you developed during the AS year and will consist of the following:

UNIT 3: Exploration of Dramatic Performance (Group devised performance - internally assessed)

UNIT 4: Theatre Text in Context (Final written exam - externally assessed)

Entry requirements

We do have a minimum requirement of five grade Bs or higher at GCSE. English Language (minimum Grade C) is also required. There are also entry requirements linked to most AS subjects (usually grade B or better). Admission to Year 13 is currently set at 3 grade Ds from your AS results.

Subject Specific

Grade B if GCSE Drama was studied.
