Technical Theatre Apprenticeship at West Cheshire College

Course description

The Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship are designed to help you develop the necessary skills for a successful career supporting backstage operations in the technical theatre industry. Both programmes are specifically tailored to ensure you gain the expertise to further your career and benefit your employer.  

Level 2 Certificate in Technical Theatre Support: Sound, Light and Stage (Lighting) and the Level 2 Award in Principles of the Creative and Cultural Sector.

Advanced Apprenticeship: Level 3 Certificate in Technical Theatre: Sound Lighting and Stage (Lighting)and the Level 3 Certificate in Principles of the Creative and Cultural Sector. You will also look at Employer Rights and Responsibilities, personal learning and thinking skills and improving your functional skills in English. 

Entry requirements

Those who are interested in a career in the Technical Theatre industry and who want to specialise in supporting backstage operations.

Assessment

You will be assessed predominantly within the workplace.

Future opportunities

General Technician in a venue or theatre, Lighting Operator, Sound Operator, Follow Spot, Assistant Stage Manager, Crew Member, Freelancer or Event Assistant. The Advanced Apprenticeship would suit roles such as Venue Technician, Deputy Stage Manager, Crew Member, Lighting Designer, Sound Design
