Course description

The aim of this qualification is to recognise the knowledge, skills and competence demonstrated by an individual in the workplace. This Level 1 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations - Site Carpentry provides the opportunity for individuals who specialise in site carpentry to demonstrate their competence.
There is also a Level 1 NVQ Certificate in this occupational area.

As part of this course you will be studying towards the following:

  • Level 1 Wood OccupationsNVQ
  • Functional Skills in Application of Number and Communications
  • Employers Rights & Responsibilities (ERR)

Course content

To achieve this qualification a minimum of 53 credits need to be attained. This comprises of the following 6 mandatory units .

QCF01 Conforming to General Safety in the Workplace

QCF03 Moving and Handling Resources in the Workplace

QCF05 Installing Frames and Linings in the Workplace

QCF06 Installing Side Hung Doors in the Workplace

QCF07 Installing Door Ironmongery in the Workplace

QCF08 Installing Internal Mouldings in the Workplace



Entry requirements

You must be aged 16 or over. Candidates must be living in England and not taking part in full-time education. Candidates must be employed in an appropriate job role and able to attend college on block release.



You will be required to complete 8 multiple choice unit end tests and 1 synoptic practical test at the end of your qualification.


You will be required to complete an online mulitple choice test.

Fuctional Skills

You will be required to complete 3 online mulitple choice tests in:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Maths

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the course students will be able to work full-time within the construction industry or study a specialised trade at a higher level.
