BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in IT at The College of Richard Collyer

Course description

The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in IT is equivalent to one “A” Level achieved with two blocks of timetabled study in one academic year. BTECs are practical, work related, exam free qualifications.

The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in IT is aimed at students who really enjoy IT and have a vocational or career interest in the subject. The Subsidiary Diploma occupies two blocks of the timetable, so most students who study for the “double” anticipate a future working in IT or studying an IT related subject at University or other HE college. The Subsidiary Diploma is fully accredited for UCAS points.

A Subsidiary Diploma comprises 6 units, including two core units. Each unit is awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction and the combined marks produce the final overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction or Distinction*. Most students continue, in their second year, to study for the full 12 unit Diploma. This is worth two “A” levels on the UCAS tariff.
