BZEE Wind Turbine Technician Studies Level 3 at Northumberland College

Course description

You will study a range of units including mechanical and electrical principles, hydraulics, rotor blade technology, health and safety, meteorology, working at heights, sea survival, fire fighting for off-shore installations and first aid.

Entry requirements

You should have a Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Sustainable Energy. Candidates with relevant industrial experience will also be considered. You must also have a medical form completed by your GP and a full UK driving licence.


Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including practical assessments/observations, written assignments and a final written examination at the end of the course.

Future opportunities

After successful completion of the course you will be able to move into employment in the wind industry or progress onto a related higher education programme such as a Foundation Degree in Sustainable Energy.
