Sports and Fitness (Short Course) at Woodside School
ASDAN Short Course Awards provide a flexible way to certificate a wide range of activites taking place in schools, colleges, youth centres, informal education, referral units and training provision. There are no age restrictions, although the main focus is on the 13-19 age group (Key Stage 3/4). The Short Course Awards are straightforward to achieve and there is minimum paperwork. In general, challenges are completed over 10, 30 or 60 hours, which corresponds to one, three or six credits. The Sports and Fitness Award accredits up to 60 hours of involvement in various sporting activities. It is aimed at young people (mainly aged between 11 and 19) of all abilities in a wide variety of settings, including schools, colleges, youth and training centres. As a flexible, multi-level Award, it provides a stand-alone certificate of achievement undertaken both inside and outside formal education. It also offers progression into nationally recognised Awards and Qualifications. The ASDAN Sports and Fitness Award accredits up to 60 hours of activities within the following areas: * Skills and participation * Coaching and officiating * Fitness * Sports study How to achieve the Award Students present a portfolio of evidence of their sporting activities. This portfolio will contain: * evidence of challenges completed * planning and reviewing documents * completed record of progress * summary of achievement identifying skills development Certificates are issued after successful internal moderation at your ASDAN-registered centre.
