Animation and Computer Illustration L3 90 Credit DiplomaDiploma at Chichester College

Course description

This is an exciting programme developed to introduce a range of animation and computer illustration techniques. Through inventive projects you will develop digital and traditional skills that are highly desirable and recognised in the industry.

Course content

The course includes units that cover: animation including stop motion, 2D and 3D animation, computer games design, storytelling for computer games, concept art, drawing and illustration techniques, photography and lighting, character design, model making and set design. 

You will be taught through workshop demonstrations and presentations. There are lots of hands on practical activities and classes which include research techniques and sketchbook methodology. 

Entry requirements

Either 5 GCSEs (grade C or above including art and English) or a level 2 BTEC diploma in art and design at merit grade. We welcome mature students with a suitable art and design portfolio.

Assessment

All units are continuously assessed through the compilation of sketchbooks. Final submissions include sketchbooks, experiments and final outcomes submitted on design boards and electronically. Animations will also be screened.

Future opportunities

This course can lead to higher education courses and careers in:
animation, computer games design, concept art, visual effects,
illustration, photography, graphics, visual communication, advertising
and CGI.
 
Career possibilities include working within the 2D or 3D animation
industries, in Games Design and Visual Effects. Animation skills are
widely utilised in advertising, music, TV and film promotions.

 

Further information

It would be very useful to have your own laptop, external hard drive, DSLR
camera, graphics tablet, A2 portfolio and a range of art materials.
sketchbooks are required for coursework and assignments.
