Economics at Wallington High School for Girls

Course description

This is a subject that is constantly changing. It appeals to students who are fascinated by what is going on around them and want to discover the contribution economics makes to the world. The course will show you how individual markets, the UK and Global Economy function. If you have an enquiring, logical and critical mind, this subject will help equip with you with the knowledge and theoretical foundations needed to
understand the complex economic and social environment in which we all operate.

Component 1 Microeconomics
Component 2 Macroeconomics
Component 3 Themes in Economics

Entry requirements

An A grade in GCSE English Language or Literature and Mathematics.


Exam 3 x 2 hrs.

Future opportunities

Economists are employed by a wide range of organisations including banks, large corporations, media companies, government departments (including the Treasury), pressure groups and institutional investors.
