Art and Design A Level at Roding Valley High School

Course description

The AS/A2 Art and Design course extends the creative skills and experiences of GCSE; exploring a wide range of media, materials, artists and processes associated with art, design and applied practises. The course encourages a personal approach to the development of skills and the exploration of art.

Course content

Students will produce a collection of work which will include personal investigation and practical outcomes. This will be based on an idea, theme or issue which demonstrates the student’s ability to research, develop ideas and link work in a meaningful way to related critical and contextual materials.

Future opportunities

University degrees that require/prefer Art & Design include:

Art and Design – Fine Art, Graphic Design, Fashion and Textiles, Liberal Arts, Art History, Multimedia Design, Technology and Product Design.

Possible career paths:

Product design, graphic design, animation design, art therapy, illustration, photography, architecture, sculpture, fashion or textiles design, art history.
