History A-Level *FEES PAYABLE* at St Mary's Senior School

Course description

Aims of the Course • To excite and challenge girls in the study of History - a subject rated by Cambridge University as one of the most respected A Levels. • To study a variety of historical periods in order to foster awareness and understanding of societies, significant events and individuals. • To develop the skills of analysis, critical thinking and synthesis whilst encouraging tolerance and appreciation of different viewpoints. • To understand the nature of historical evidence and methods used by historians to analyse and evaluate it. • To be able to express ideas confidently and effectively through debate and argument.

Entry requirements

It is expected that you will achieve an A Grade at GCSE in the subjects that you wish to continue to AS Level.

If you are joining us for Sixth Form from another school we require that you achieve at least six A Grades and above at GCSE Level.
