Business BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at King George V College

Course description

The course covers a broad range of business topics, from the fundamentals to recent topics such as internet marketing. Students will study six units overall that will provide them with the knowledge and skills for a career in business. As a Business student, you will apply your learning to current real-life examples to demonstrate your understanding and, more importantly, to develop your critical thinking skills enabling you to accurately evaluate and analyse information.  Due to the great flexibility in the course, students’ progress on to a wide range of courses and careers following completion of the course – over 70% of students go on to university with over 20% going into employment.

Entry requirements

A strong BTEC Business student will be inquisitive and eager to advance their critical thinking skills, in order to effectively develop evaluation and analysis skills as the course progresses. Potential students should also have strong time management skills, which will allow them to prioritise their workload to meet the demands of completing the six units of the course.

There are a wide range of trips and visits available to students to support their learning, including a residential trip to London, where you will visit multiple organisations of different size and industry, an adventure day at ‘Rock n River’ to develop team work skills, a visit to Jaguar Land Rover (Halewood) to understand manufacturing methods and Alton Towers for investigating marketing practices. We are also very fortunate to be supported by a number of guest speakers, who have real life business experience that students are able to apply to their current learning.
