Business and Personal Finance (BTEC) at Somervale School
This course will serve the needs of a wide range of students who are interested in private, public or voluntary organizations in the Business and Finance sector.
It will be particularly relevant to those interested in working in the financial services industry.
The award provides underpinning knowledge and business skills.
The course will also develop the students understanding of the financial services available for individuals and businesses.
These units will contribute to a learners understanding of how to organise their finances at all future stages of their lives.
5 A*-C grades at GCSE or equivalent including a C grade in GCSE Mathematics
The BTEC National in Business has been developed to provide a broad educational basis for further training, further education or for moving into appropriate employment within the business sector. The course has been designed to be delivered in a work-related context and to allow learners to develop an appreciation of the finance sector.
Who Might the Course Suit?
Students who will enjoy this course will have the “get up and go” to research independently and participate enthusiastically in presentations, roleplays, debates and in-depth research. This research may involve library resources, the internet, business visits and surveys. Clearly, they will need to have an interest in the world of finance.
