Health and Social Care Level 3 Diploma at R & P Training Solutions Limited

Course description

The Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care is a qualification designed for staff who deliver physical, emotional or enabling care to clients who have a medium to high dependency, whether they work within health and social care, or within the public, private or voluntary sectors. This includes; residential care, nursing homes, domiciliary care, supported living projects, hospitals, GP surgeries and any other healthcare environments.

The Level 3 Diploma reflects a higher level of responsibility and specialisation. In order to achieve this qualification it is essential that candidates work in roles that are able to provide evidence for this level of qualification.

The Level 3 Diploma is suitable for: senior healthcare assistants, senior care workers, key workers  and support workers including those working within specialists areas

In order to achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care you will need to gain a minimum of 58 credits; 28 credits will come from the mandatory units and the remaining 30 credits from the optional units. You can choose to complete the Diploma as a generic qualification or complete one of the specialist pathways, Dementia or Adults with Learning Disabilities; the optional units will be determined by your choice and your assessor will be happy to discuss your options in more detail.

Course content

Mandatory units include:

Promote communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings

Engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings

Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings

Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings

Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care

Promote person centred approaches in health and social care

Promote and implement health and safety in health and social care

You will also choose optional units that suit your career plans; a wide number of optional units are available and include:

Understand the role of communication and interactions with individuals who have dementia

Understand the diversity of individuals with dementia and the importance of inclusion

Understand theories of relationships and social networks

Understand how to support individuals with autistic spectrum conditions

Responding to the advocacy needs of different groups of people

Administer medication to individuals and monitor the effects

 

The Diploma Level 3 in Health & Social Care will take approximately 10 – 12 months depending on the individual’s experience, knowledge and competence.

 

The above qualifications can be accessed as full qualifications or on a unit only basis and can be used as individual or group professional development
