Level 3 Diploma in Games and Software Development at Telford College Of Arts And Technology - TCAT

Course description

The Diploma in Software is an exciting course if you are interested in
developing programmes, websites and games. The course will cover
all aspects of software development from systems analysis, to object
oriented programming, graphics, web server scripting to develop
interactive websites. You will use state of the art, industry standard
software giving you a head start at job hunting or allowing entry
into university. Successful progression onto the second year of the
course will be dependent on passing all units in the first year and
a good tutor report. Full Time Study Programmes are built around
a collection of key elements which all students benefit from, these
include:
 
• Main Qualification in the subject of your choice
• English & mathematics qualifications for all students who have not
yet achieved A*- C grade in either subject
• Work Experience or External Work Placement which is planned
with you at the start of your course and links to your career goals
and ambitions
• Weekly Tutorial with your personal tutor
• A wide range of Enrichment Activities to support your broader
skills, such as teamwork or communication

Entry requirements

Extended Diploma level 3 (e.g. 3x A)

Learners who come in with minimum of 4 GCSE A-C and include both English and Maths at a C Grade

2 Year Course

Diploma level 3 (e.g. 2x A)

(Only in extreme circumstances with Director of approval)

Learners who come in with minimum of 4 GCSE @ C including English or Maths (full level 2 @ M or D & GCSE English C)

2 years course

Sub Diploma level 3 (e.g. 1x A)

Learners who come in with a minimum of 3 GCSE @ C+ English D grade, or FS Level 1 (or level 2 @ M or D)

1 Year course

Assessment

Predominantly coursework with some external tests in English
and maths.

Future opportunities

Software developer, Programmer, Analyst, Computer Technician,
Project Manager, Website Designer, Games Developer or
Apprenticeship.

Further information

Success in the Level 3 Diploma opens up the opportunity for further
study - you could take a HND or Foundation Degree in Computing or
go to University.
