Music (Performing) BTEC Level 3 Subsidary Diploma at Queen Katharine Academy
The BTEC music technology course offers a wide range of units that cover composition, analysis and using the recording studio as well as developing independent working skills and working as part of a team. This course is designed for students that wish to work in the music industry, work on sound or go onto further study. This course allows students a sound grounding in a number of areas whilst still exploring the subject in depth. Students will gain a broad knowledge of music through-

You will need 5 A* to C grades at GSCE or equivalent. Preferably English and Math's. You will also need a C grade or above in GCSE Music plus grade 4 standard on an instrument or voice. Students must be prepared for frequent live performances on their instrument or voice
This is a pure coursework assessed course with 2 mandatory units and 4 optional ones. Core units include Music Performance Techniques, and Working and Developing as a musical ensemble. Optional Units include Music Project, Marketing and Promotion in the Music Industry, Music Performance Session Styles, Pop Music in Practice.
You'll learn and obtain skills that can be used in a wide range of careers such as: Musician, Editor, Singer, Songwriter, Specialist teacher etc.
