Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 3 at Northampton College
The Level 3 Diploma is a vocational course that completes the 3 year training programme for practical vehicle mechanics. All units are assessed and graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. The pattern of attendance is 4 full days per week. The course is made up of 3 core and 5 specialist units. The specialist units enable you to study particular areas in depth. The pathways and units are categorised below. Units you will study include: - Customer Care - Vehicle Systems - Electronics - Fault Diagnostics - Science - Maths - Light Engines - SI Electrics - Ancillary Equipment - Fuel Injection - Transmission - Braking - Steering & Suspension - Engine Maintenance Systems Fuctional Skills will be taken in English and Maths. Common skills are to be studied through coursework, activities, and written assignments.
The course is aimed at those who wish to develop their practical and theoretical skills to enable them to work in the industry.
GCSEs at Grade A*-C in English Language and Maths or Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths plus IMI Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. If you are aged 19 or over and are an experienced, employed vehicle technician we will discuss your study options with you during your interview.
All units are assessed and graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. Practical task completion and theoretical on-line exams are also part of the qualification criteria.
After successfully completing this course you can progress into employment.
If you are aged 19 or over on 1st September you will pay an exam registration fee of approximately £180 at enrolment. You will need to supply safety boots and overalls for workshop activities.
