'The Level 2 Diploma in Engineering and Technology has been designed for young people who would like to train for a position within an engineering environment.This course will consist of practical assessments within a workshop environment backed up by theory classroom based sessions.The qualification comprises of both mandatory and optional units and will be assessed by observation, practical work and written questions. There are 3 mandatory units and 3 optional units as per belowMandatory units:• Engineering Environment Awareness• Engineering Techniques• Engineering PrinciplesOptional units from: • Welding Techniques• Maintenance Techniques• Understanding Computer Aided Drawing (CAD)• Turning Techniques• Fitting & Assembly Techniques

Entry requirements

'Learners are required to have GCSE grade D for maths and English or a level 1 in performing engineering operations and will also be required to undertake an interview and assessment. Candidates will be expected to be enthusiastic about embarking on a career in engineering and have an aptitude for practical activities.

Future opportunities

'On completion of this qualification candidates may progress on to a level 3 City & Guilds or EAL Awards Engineering programme and/or into employment.
