Access to Engineering at Stanmore College

Course description

A one year course designed to equip over 19s with the skills, confidence and academic qualification to enable them to progress to university.

You will be studying, electronics, electrical circuits, mechanical principles and mathematics for engineers.

The course is 12 hours of lessons per week over 30 weeks. Lessons will be 3 days a week, in the daytime and some evenings.

Entry requirements

GCSEs at grade C or above in:

English Language
Mathematics
Double Science (or Physics)

Assessment

Assessment consists of:

Formal written examinations.
Oral presentations.
Formal essays.
Written reports.

Generally assignments will have more than one task and at any one time you will be working on at least 3/4 different assignments, most of which will be at level 3 (A level equivalent)

Future opportunities

To study an appropriate course at university.

E.g. mechanical, electrical, electronic or computer engineering.
