Performing Arts (Dance) BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 at Preston's College

Course description

This course provides an opportunity to focus on the study of dance, but also gives you the chance to gain skills in other areas of performance, such as singing and acting.

Course content

– Urban dance
– Ballet
– Tap

– Rehearsing for performance

Entry requirements

You need five GCSE’s (or equivalent) at A*-C grade. A GCSE at grade C in either English or maths with a minimum grade D for the other subject. You’ll also need to attend an audition.


Assessment is continuous and through a variety of methods including performances, practical work, log books, reports, evaluations and presentations.

Future opportunities

For teaching and dance therapy careers you will need to continue your studies in dance at degree level. You can progress to the Foundation Degree in Dance at Preston’s College or other university degree courses in dance, performing arts or theatre administration.This qualification is relevant to the following careers:
