Personal Training Level 3 NVQ at The City of Liverpool College

Course description

An ideal qualification for those who have achieved a full Level 2 Gym Instructor or Diploma in Instruction Exercise & Fitness. This qualification will enable you to set up in business as a Personal Trainer or work for one of the large health & fitness companies now operating in the region.

The units are:

  • Anatomy & Physiology for Exercise & Health.
  • Principles of exercise, Fitness & Health.
  • Promote Health, Safety, & Welfare in Active Leisure & Recreation.
  • Reflect on & Develop own Practice in Providing Exercise & Physical Activity.
  • Motivate Clients to Maintain Long Term Adherence to Exercise & Physical Activity.
  • Evaluate Exercise & Physical Activity Programmes.
  • Design, Manage & Adapt a Personal Training Programme with Clients.
  • Deliver Exercise & Physical Activity as part of a Personal Training Programme.
  • Apply the Principles of Nutrition to Support Client Goals as part of an Exercise & Physical Activity Programme.
  • There is also the potential to take an additional unit – Plan, Market & Sell Services is demand is high enough.

Entry requirements

  • This course is open to candidates 18 years and above (there is no upper limit).
  • Candidates must have completed and achieved the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Gym Instructing or above as a minimum entry requirement prior to applying for this qualification.
  • You will also need to be enthusiastic for the subject, committed to studying, show excellent practical skills. It will also be advantageous to be outgoing & motivated & self disciplined. These traits will help you greatly in the setting up of your own company or setting your own client base in the future.

Assessment

You will be expected to undertake regular home study on this course & purchase a College Sports kit to be worn during practical sessions. The price of your kit will depend on your age and you will receive more information at your interview

    • The Learning Exchange is the College's flagship building that seamlessly combines old with new amidst the rich architecture of three of Liverpool's famous cultural areas: RopeWalks, Hope Street Quarter and China Town - home to the oldest established Chinese Community in the West and the largest Chinese arch outside China.

      A-Levels and GCSEs as well as Sports and Leisure courses are located on this campus providing students with modern, purpose-built facilities and equipment, including full size sports hall, hi-tech sports labs and spacious, air conditioned gym and fitness studio. All students have access to a wide range of learning and recreational facilities including modern teaching rooms and work studios and a fully equipped learning resource centre.

      The Employability and Enterprise Zone (EEZ) at the Learning Exchange is an invaluable resource providing information and links in to employment or on to university. The information, advice and guidance unit based at the Learning Exchange also offers students pre and on course support around learning.

      We have a a full day care nursery for children aged 18mths to 4 years to help our students manage their family commitments while studying towards their future.
