Beauty Level 2 at The King Edmund School

Course description

This is the starting point for those of you who wish to be a beauty therapist and will allow you to gain the basic knowledge required to go into the workplace. However, completion of level 3 is always recommended in order to become a senior therapist
and widen employment opportunities. To be successful you will need to have a keen interest in beauty, be a team player, enjoy working with members of the public, be a great communicator and listener and have a calm and cheerful personality. At this level you must be able to self-study and commit to additional activities outside of the classroom.

Course content

If you pursue a diploma in beauty therapy, you’ll learn the basic skills to succeed in your area - for example, anatomy and physiology. You will provide facial skin care, manicures, pedicures, carry out waxing services, eyelash and eyebrow treatments and provide make-up services. You will learn through practical sessions, group discussions or assignments. You’ll have access to a realistic salon environment where you’ll practise and demonstrate your skills in the KES training salon. You will also be able to attend additional optional workshops such as spray tanning, airbrush make-up, trips to find out about careers, study tours to spas and take part in work experience initiatives.

Assessment

You will be assessed by your teacher using assignments, completing practical
treatments and online tests.

Future opportunities

These qualifications give you the foundations to begin a career in beauty therapy, or to advance in your career by gaining new skills. You could find employment in a salon environment or progress to a level 3 qualification at college.
