Geography at All Saints RC Comprehensive School

Course description

Year 1

Unit 1: Global challenges - World at Risk, Going Global: This exam paper has a mix of short questions and essay questions.

Unit 2: Geographical Investigations - Extreme Weather, Re-branding Cities and Countryside: This exam paper has essay style questions, some of which involve writing about fi eldwork carried out during the course.

Year 2

Unit 3: Contested Planet:

This paper looks at: Energy Security, Water Confl icts, Biodiversity Under Threat, Superpower Geographies, Bridging the Development Gap, The Technological Fix? Some of these topics are examined by traditional exam questions, but one topic is examined by a synoptic paper similar in style to the GCSE SDME paper with pre-release materials.

Unit 4: Geographical Research: This paper researches Tectonic Activity and Hazards and is examined by a report style essay.

Entry requirements

Students enrolling on this course require a minimum of 5 A*-C grades at GCSE with a grade B or above in Geography.
