Psychology *FEES PAYABLE* at Akeley Wood Senior School

Course description

This specification has been designed to provide a broad introduction to the scope and nature of psychology as a science, bringing the content up to date while at the same time retaining the popular features of the previous Psychology Specification A. The emphasis is on applying knowledge and understanding rather than just acquiring knowledge, thereby developing students’ transferable skills of analysis, evaluation and critical thinking.

The course will appeal to students who enjoy exploring issues dealing with how and why people behave in certain ways and the link between this and their environment

Entry requirements

It is preferable to have achieved a grade B in English and B in Science and Mathematics GCSE. It is important also that you are interested in people, because Psychology is a study of the mind and behaviour of humans, although some animal studies are included. Nonetheless, you will need to have an enquiring mind and a curiosity about why people behave in the way that they do.
