BTEC SUBSIDIARY DIPLOMA IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION at Astley Community High School

Course description

BTEC Nationals are qualifications that are designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range of sectors. They give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare them for employment. This qualification also provides a progression route into university.

This course comprises of 6 units over 2 years. The units that are likely to be covered are;

Principles of Anatomy and Physiology

The Physiology of Fitness

Assessing Risk in Sport

Sports Coaching

Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise

Psychology of Sports Performance

Athlete’s Lifestyle

This course is equivalent to 1 full A-level

Entry requirements

This course is recommended for those who have achieved at least four A*- C grade GCSEs or have completed a BTEC First and have a clear view of their future vocation, or wish to go to university.
