Vocational Studies (Hospitality & Catering) Entry Level Diploma at Swindon College

Course description

This course is designed for individuals wishing to enter the hospitality industry. The two mandatory units develop knowledge of the hospitality industry and career options available and the practical units develop skills in food preparation, food service, customer service and personal presentation. The industry provides a large number of job opportunities including employment within coffee shops, cafes, work canteens, motorway service stations, care homes or hospital kitchens. 

The course includes:

  • Practical Cookery
  • Food Service in Coffee Shop
  • Health and Food Safety
  • Literacy and Numeracy Skills.

Entry requirements

  • Minimum age of 16 years
  • GCSE English and maths grade D to E.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course students can progress onto the Level 1 Professional Cookery Diploma.
