Theatre Studies at Longcroft School
Theatre Studies aims to develop interest in and understanding of drama and theatre. The course is based on four main areas: candidates own practical work -devised and scripted; set plays (ranging from the Greeks to the present day); a range of theatre practitioners and live productions attended by students. The course integrates the theoretical study of drama and theatre with practical application.
There are three units in each year - comprising one practical and two written. Units are assessed through a combination of internally examined practical performance pieces and a visiting external.
Students who study this subject will normally achieve 5 A* - C grades at GCSE including English Literature and Drama, although GCSE Drama is not absolutely necessary to take this AS/A level.
