What is Administration?
Administration is concerned with the paperwork involved in running a business office. This may include data input, letters, filing, photocopying and handling enquiries from customers and clients. The roles available include office junior, clerical assistant, administration assistant and receptionist. For those who are successful their career can lead to supervisory and management positions.

Whether you are new to Administration, or are already established within the industry; by learning you can improve your abilities and develop your understanding. Learning doesn’t only give you the basics for doing the job but also prepares you to meet new challenges when they arise. You do not need any previous experience to start learning and for those with experience there are opportunities to start at a higher level qualification.

A Trainer/Assessor will visit you at work to help you and to ensure you are supported throughout your programme. This includes initial visits to make sure you fully understand the NVQ qualification you are working towards, what to do, and how your work will be assessed against nationally recognised standards.
The course offers you a specialist work-based qualification to support a range of careers in business and administration or to progress onto studying for an NVQ level 3 in business and administration or related subjects such as hospitality management. With further training, you could continue to develop your career in business and administration by getting a job within marketing, finance or human resources. The course is work based which means you can earn and learn whilst developing basic business skills, understanding and knowledge, which many employers and are looking for. York has a growing business community, with new investment in office space being made around the area. The need for well-trained and experienced administration staff is high with local businesses offering many opportunities for those with the right positive attitude.
