Sport BTEC Level 3 Certificate at Holgate Academy

Course description

This course is suitable for anyone who is interested in developing a career in sports coaching, sports management or the leisure industry in general.  

The course is a combination of practical performance and theoretical study.

Course content

The course is split into the BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Sport during the first year of study, and the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport in the second year of study (broadly equivalent to one GCE A Level).  

Areas of study will include:

  • Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport
  • The Physiology of Fitness
  • Assessing Risk in Sport
  • Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise
  • Sports Nutrition, Psychology for Sports Performance
  • Fitness Training and Programming

Entry requirements

Students who want to study BTEC National Level 3 Sport should ideally have achieved at least a Merit at a Level 2 Sports course or an A*-C grade at GCSE PE.

Further information

Students will get the opportunity to test their own fitness levels and develop ways in which their fitness can be improved.

There is an opportunity for leading young people in a coaching format under the supervision of a qualified teacher.
