Course description

Chemistry is the study of the behaviour of materials. It is concerned with how chemical elements combine to make the myriad of compounds around us. If you like doing experiments and following up the challenging ideas they generate, then chemistry is for you as you will develop essential skills in practical tasks. If you want to learn more about the chemicals of life, are keen to discover more about everyday substances and get a buzz from experiments with chemical compounds then this course is for you. You need to be a logical thinker, open minded to new scientific developments and be confident using Mathematics.

Course content

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade A*-C. A minimum of GCSE grade B in Chemistry Separate Science or grade AB in Core and Additional Science and a grade B in GCSE Mathematics.

Financial information

Students under 19 years of age on 31 August 2015: Tuition is free for the duration of your course (full-time courses only). Educational visits charge: An annual £65 fee is payable for all Further Education students and covers the cost of outside visits, the engagement of special speakers and a contribution to the cost of administratio

Further information

Chemistry naturally sits well with other A-level sciences and Mathematics. To study for a Veterinary or Medical degree requires high grades in Chemistry
