English Literature - A Level at Bourne Academy

Course description

We aim to encourage students to develop their interest in and enjoyment of literature and literacy studies as they:

• Read widely and independently;

• Engage creatively with texts;

• Develop and apply their knowledge in speech and writing;

• Explore contexts and traditions.

During the two year course students will study both modern and traditional literature across a variety of genres. In addition to studying the set texts it is essential that students undertake wider reading. Students will be required to buy some of the set texts so that they can annotate them, (cost approximately £8 for AS and £10 for A2.)
