Hospitality: Housekeeping Intermediate Apprenticeship at Croydon College
This Apprenticeship will cover how to clean rooms and bathrooms, use chemicals, clean floors, make beds, clean windows and generally provide excellent customer service.
This course will suit a person who is passionate about learning new techniques and improving your skills in your chosen area.
Some of the subjects featured in the course include:
- Maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment.
- Contributing to effective team work.
- Carrying out periodic room servicing and deep cleaning.
- Maintaining housekeeping supplies.
- Providing a linen service.
The learning experience will be individual and fun! Tutors will keep in regular contact with you and your employer, plus reviews will be carried out every six weeks.
Good English and maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.
It’s also important to have good English and maths qualifications and so all students will study English and maths and work towards an appropriate level and type of qualification including GCSE.
This Intermediate Apprenticeship in Housekeeping will help secure a work placement through Croydon College (if you don’t have one already) giving you the opportunity to continue earning while learning.

You’ll enjoy earning on the job, while learning new skills and building your knowledge in the workplace.
On completion of the course you’ll receive a City & Guilds Apprenticeship, which is widely recognised both nationally and internationally.

Work ready - a Department for Business, Innovation and Skills survey showed that qualified apprentices score 4% higher on employability than university graduates (ICM Survey, 2013).
A dedicated Apprenticeship team at the College will support you throughout your training.
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D-G, one being English or maths, or a Level 1 related qualification.
English and maths assessed at Entry Level 3 or above.
Assessments are carried out using a variety of methods, including observation in the workplace, online multiple choice questions, student and witness statements and discussions.
The assessments are designed to demonstrate the full range of a students’ knowledge, including practical skills. The assessments also give you a chance to demonstrate your ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
Typical progression routes include an Advanced Apprenticeship - Hospitality: Supervision and Leadership (Level 3), while continuing to work in a full time paid job.
Some former apprentices have been promoted in their workplaces once they gained the qualification. While other former apprentices have gone on to work in a variety of well-known organisations and companies, including Fulham Football Club, Denbies Wine Estate, Beanies and King Edward VII Hospital.
