Sport - Subsidiary Diploma at Childwall Sports & Science Academy

Course description

The BTEC Level 3 course consists of modules covering coaching, anatomy and sports science. The aim of the course is for students to develop their knowledge and understanding about the wider world of sport.

Course content

This course is made up of 12 units for the Diploma and 6 units for the Subsidiary Diploma:

Diploma Core Units (1 A Level)

  • Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport
  • The Physiology of Fitness
  • Assessing Risk in Sport
  • Fitness Training and Programming
  • Sports Coaching
  • Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise
  • Practical Team Sports

Diploma Units (2 A Levels)

All the core units plus

  • Sports Development
  • Organising Sports Events
  • Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
  • Leadership in Sport
  • Laboratory and Experimental Methods in Sport and Exercise Sciences
  • Sports Injuries

Entry requirements

Minimum of 5 A*- C grades (or equivalent) in 4 different subjects.

GCSE Maths and English must be retaken if not at a C grade.
