Art and Design (AS) at Cheslyn Hay Sport & Community High School

Course description

2 units of work – 2 units at AS level Unit 1 involves the development of work from direct observation, including drawing with a variety of materials and media to produce a final piece or pieces. Unit 2 externally set assignment, building on experiences gained in Unit 1.

Entry requirements

A grade B or above in GCSE Art and Design is required.

Future opportunities

This course will give you the qualifications you need to progress to further education and higher education. Many students have continued to achieve success in a wide variety of careers such as textiles, fashion graphics, architecture, photography, teaching and in the retail business and many more.You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses such as History of Art or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Art and Design, which could lead onto higher education in areas of art and design, photography, architecture or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to art and design such as an Architect, Interior Designer, Artist or fashion designer. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will encourage you to explore your creative mind and help you develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
