Philosophy & Ethics AS A2 at The Rushden Community College

Course content

You will explore a wide range of issues and questions like: Does God exist? Looking at the traditional arguments for the existence of God; What do we mean by good and bad?; Can we do just what our conscience tells us?; Is it just love that makes the world go round?; Is there such a thing as a just war? You will also find out about these issues: The rights of the foetus - Abortion; Genetic engineering - Euthanasia; Surrogate motherhood - Sexual issues.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE grades C or above.

Assessment

Philosophy and Ethics is a modular course. AS students will cover 2 topics, assessed by external examination. A2 students will study a further 2 topics assessed by examination.
