Theatrical and Media Make up Level 3 at Lancaster and Morecambe College

Course description

The course will provide you with knowledge on the underlying principles of creative hair design and a variety of media make up techniques. You will learn the practical skills involved in being able to successfully carry out these services.

Course content

You may study the following: • Health and Safety • Working with Colleagues • Camouflage Make Up • Airbrush Make Up • Face and Body Art • Fashion and Photographic Make Up • Creative Hair Design • Media Make Up • Prosthetic Pieces and Bald Caps • Work Placement All LMC students will receive tutorial support. All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE Maths, English if not already awarded an A*-C in these subjects. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into Further or Higher education, training or employment. 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English and maths OR a Level 2 related qualification. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager

Assessment

This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including assignments, coursework, practical performance, exam and portfolio presentation.

You will need to buy: • Uniform - £47.00 approx. • Kit - £300.00 approx. • Trip to London - £180.00 approx. (optional) • Other related trips - £25.00 approx. Financial support may be available, please contact Student Services for more information.

Future opportunities

The course can lead onto a career in the industry as a make up artist, session stylist, theatre and production, film and TV or further study including the Hairdressing Apprenticeship.

Further information

On completion of this course you will receive City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects, Hair and Media Make Up. 

You will be expected to undertake an extensive amount of course work and supplementary study on this course.
