This is an A Level course

 

This course is designed to encourage candidates to read widely and independently both set texts and their own choices.

The course offers a substantial body of texts which candidates will be invited to explore in terms of form, structure and language, as well as contexts and different viewpoints.

The nature of the course offers flexibility in the selection, teaching and assessment of texts to suit the various traditions of literature in English and to allow students to make links between texts from different genres and traditions.  The students will enjoy studying both modern and traditional literature in a friendly supportive environment where independent thinking and discussion is valued

Course content

Year 1 Unit 1 - Aspects of Narrative

Year 1 Unit 2 - Dramatic Genres

Year 2 Unit 3 - Text and Genres

Year 2 Unit 4 - Further and Independent Reading

Entry requirements

 

Students must have achieved a minimum of Grade B GCSE in English.

They do not need previous English Literature experience to take this subject
