Manufacturing Product and Design (Principal Learning and Project) at The Telford Langley School

Course description

The principal learning in Manufacturing and Product Design covers the complete process of producing a product. It will provide applied knowledge and understanding of a range of functional areas including marketing, sales, product design, mass production and in line processes through to customer satisfaction and profitability. Learners will be equipped with the theoretical, practical and interpersonal skills to be successful in their own future, as well as the success of the organisation they join.

You will study across 3 main themes:

Product design and material science

Business and enterprise

Production systems

The area of manufacturing and product design is varied and includes: Food and drink, chemical, petroleum, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, building products, aeronautical, automotive, computer aided design, computer aided manufacture, footwear, fashion and textiles.

Entry requirements

  • Minimum Key Stage 3 Levels 5/6 in English, Mathematics and ICT
  • School recommendation

Assessment

One unit is assessed by examination. All other units are assessed by teacher-marked coursework tasks.
