Geography A-Level at The Ridgeway School and Sixth Form College

Course description

What will I be studying?

AS Level (2 units)

Topics: Rivers, floods and management, Coastal environments, Global population change, Energy.

Skills: Basic, investigative, ICT, graphical, cartographical, statistical and fieldwork. There is a residential field trip in Year 12.

A Level (2 units)

Topics: Plate tectonics and associated hazards; Weather and climate and associated hazards; Development and globalisation; World cities - evolution or revolution?

Skills: Geographical Issues.

Where can it take me?

Successful A Level Geography students are amongst the most employable people, as they develop the skills necessary for any job in the future. This is because the subject combines a knowledge of science and an understanding of the arts.

Entry requirements

At least 4 C grades at GCSE (or equivalent) in at least 3 different subjects.
