Health & Social Care BTEC Extended Certificate Level 2 at New College Telford
If you are looking for a course that is relevant to life experiences and have an interest in people and how services are provided for people, then this course is perfect for you. Assessment is predominantly coursework based.
The aim of the Diploma is to give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to move onto the next stage of pursuing a career in health and social care. All learners will study the core units, no matter which area of health and social care most interests them. These core units provide learners with the basic knowledge and understanding of the health and social care sector. The mandatory units will provide learners with further knowledge and understanding, and also develop skills and explore attributes needed in the health and social sector. These units also help to build and develop learners' employability skills and knowledge which are very transferable across other areas of work.
Grade profile will include C – E GCSEs or L1/2 Technical Qualifications. Grade D in English is preferred. A police check (DBS) will be required as you will be expected to successfully complete a period of vocational experience in an appropriate health and social care setting. Funding may be available for the DBS dependent on individual circumstances.
Level 3 Health and Social Care or progression onto other Level 3 vocational qualifications if distinctions are achieved.
This is a full programme of study but students studying this course will often need to take GCSE/Functional Skills Maths or English alongside this course.
