Course description

AS Units G481 Mechanics - Motion, Forces in action, Work and energy G482 Electrons, Waves and Photons - Electric current, Resistance, DC Circuits, Waves and Quantum Physics G483 Practical skills in Physics - internal assessment carried out under supervision. A2 Units G484 Newtonian World - Newtons laws and momentum, Circular motion and oscillations and Thermal Physics. G485 Fields, Particles and Frontiers of Physics - electric and magnetic fields, capacitors and exponential decay, Nuclear physics, Medical physics, Modelling of the Universe. G486 Practical skills in Physics – internal assessment carried out under supervision. Assessment The following units are written papers: G481, G482, G484 and G485. Units G483 and G486 are Practical Skills - 3 Exam board set tasks each unit. Additional Information A practical science approach including “How Science works” is used throughout the course. Textbooks published by Heinnemann follow the course directly including practical notes and commentary. Additional resources are free from uk including sample assessments, and coursework guidance. The deadline for completion of the practical skills tasks in both years will be the end of February.
