IT (Web and Software) - Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at East Surrey College

Course description

This Apprenticeship programme is designed for new entrants to a role in the IT & Telecoms sector, and to provide progression and re-skilling routes for existing IT Professionals.
 
Web and Software Apprentices can work in areas such as:
• Software/ Web Developer Creating software applications and websites
• Database Administrator Responsible for the maintenance and security of organisation's databases
• Software Tester

Course content

Selection of units/topics that can be covered:
 
• Communication and Employability skills in IT (Mandatory for all qualifications)
• Computer Systems (Mandatory for all qualifications)
• Information Systems (Mandatory for 12 unit Qualification)
• Software Design and Development
• Procedural Programming
• Website Production
• Spreadsheet Modelling
• Project Planning with IT
• Organisational Systems Security
• Computer animation
• Systems Analysis and Design
• 2D Animation Production
• Object Orientated Programming
• Procedural Programming
• Client Side customisation of Web Pages

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this Apprenticeship but you must be in paid work for a minimum of 30 hours per week. It is essential you have the right mind-set for working full time and studying at the same time. Having a can-do attitude, being flexible and reliable are also important. You must also be able to communicate effectively with others.

Assessment

Practical on-the job training and competence assessment, together with knowledge based assignments for the BTEC Level 3.

Financial information

If you are under 19 when you start your apprenticeship then tuition is free. If you are 19 or over please call our Employer Services team for advice and guidance on funding and eligibility.

Future opportunities

The Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship programme offers successful Apprentices the opportunity to further progress in their studies and go on to undertake a related IT degree programme.
Apprentices may also elect to continue within their job role and pursue their learning by undertaking additional technical, business or managerial level training and qualifications.
