Art and Design (Textiles) AS level at Howard of Effingham School

Course description

The course provides opportunities to develop a broad foundation of critical, practical and theoretical skills that offers students a holistic understanding of a range of practices and contexts in the visual arts, crafts and design fields.

Textiles: encompasses a very broad range of materials, techniques and processes, including a growing number of interdisciplinary approaches. These comprise woven, embroidered, knitted, printed, painted, dyed, manipulated, embellished and constructional methods which are utilised to produce a great variety of textile outcomes that include costume and fashion design, accessories and body adornment. The range is increasing as new material and technologies emerge.

Course content

Component: Consists of a single component, the Personal Creative Enquiry, which is internally assessed and externally moderated. It is 100% coursework with no exam.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade C or above in Art and Design, Fine Art or Textile Design.
