Sociology - A Level at Bexleyheath Academy

Course description

The A Level Sociology course allows students to develop a wide range of knowledge and understanding about society, how sociologists study society and understand its structures, processes and issues.
Sociology is exciting, interesting and relevant to students’ lives. This course encourages students to take a questioning approach to evidence and issues, allowing them to develop their critical, evaluative skills.  You will learn about a wide range of issues within society as well as developing and understanding of current affairs.
Throughout the course, you will need to:
  • Keep up to date with current affairs by watching the news and reading newspapers
  • Write essays and exam questions
  • Do extra research into topics
  • Complete set readings related to class learning
