Government and Politics A Level at Kingsdale Foundation School

Course description

Studying Government and Politics is  for those who wish to have a deeper understanding of the political structures of the country we live in. It naturally follows that those who have the knowledge that Government and Politics gives are more comfortable with the complexities of the state they live in. However, it is instrumentally useful in other subjects too, not least History and Sociology where knowledge of political structures and theories are needed.

Course content

In AS, students examine the ways that UK citizens participate in the electoral process, and how government works after it has been elected. Unit 1 is concerned with participation, pressure groups, and electoral systems.

At A2 the emphasis shifts to political theory as students engage with the tenets of Socialism, Fascism, Conservatism and Liberalism.
